Information for Tenants

As a prospective tenant you may find the following checklist useful for assessing whether a property works for you. 

  • How well has the exterior of the property been maintained (gutters, windows, roof)?
  • Is there enough storage space?
  • Has the property been well insulated / heating provided?
  • Ask for copies of the gas & electrical safety certificates. 
  • Is the property unfurnished, part-furnished or fully furnished.
  • Do the taps, toilet and shower work? Do all the windows open? Is the heating / hot water working?
  • Is there access from rear garden / alley?
  • For flats, how clean are common areas, how often are they cleaned and by whom? How are any common grounds maintained? Is there parking available?
  • Nearest transport links?
  • If the landlord will manage the tenancy will it be possible to meet them?
